Sorry Ladies….I Hate LuLaRoe

I have been added to no less than 5 LuLaRoe “groups” on Facebook in the past months.  I have been added to no less than 10 LuLaRoe “parties” on Facebook within that same time frame.  That means, I have unwillingly been added to LLR events 15 times in recent months.  All of which I leave within minutes of being added because….drumroll please….I hate it.  Sorry, LLR peeps.  I said it.  I hate it.  I think it’s ugly.

LuLaRoe has developed some sort of crazy cult following.  Tons of moms selling the product, groups of sellers selling in huge online groups, posting their outfit pictures, and talking about the LLR outfits all the time. And yet here I sit, thinking that nearly every item and “outfit of the day” everyone posts looks hideously ugly.  Frumpy.  From the 90’s.  Heck-half the time they don’t even match!  My husband once saw a picture over my shoulder and said something along the lines of, “is she being serious? Those pieces don’t even go together.”

Now, any real friend of mine will know that I would never buy this clothing anyway.  I can pretty much be found in jeans 24/7, with the occasional maxi skirt or jean capri in summer.  I hate dresses and avoid them 99% of the time.  I’m the wedding goer who will wear dress pants instead of a dress. My idea of dressing up my solid colored tank tops and t-shirts is adding a cute necklace, a fun shrug, or cute shoes.  That’s it.  I don’t LuLaRoe.  I don’t do prints.  I don’t do old-looking, frumpy clothing.

So it’s odd to me that I keep getting added to these groups.  As a general business rule, I really think anyone selling anything online should ASK first before adding someone to a group…”hey! I’m selling xyz, can I add you to the group?” My answer will still be “no”, but I’ll appreciate that you thought to ask before trying to get me to buy your stuff.  (Remember Lauren’s post on the subject of MLM sales?  It’s a great read for those of you in the business).

I get that everyone has different styles.  I’m totally cool with that.  You be you and wear those leggings as pants with your cat printed baggy shirt.  But what I can’t get over is the obnoxiousness of constantly being bombarded with LLR pictures and group adds that I just can’t seem to get away from.  So stop it.  Stop adding people without asking them first unless you know they’re already in the LLR fan club.  Because all it makes me do is hate the product more and more.

Yes, I see that your dress has pockets.  I still don’t care.  I’m not wearing it.  Stop asking.
