Full-service hospital coming to Northern Nevada, including a Women’s Health Institute
As much as we do not like to admit it, kids get hurt. Whether our kids think they are Superman while biking down the hill going 30 miles an hour and have a nasty fall, or they experience trouble with an ear infection that has not gone away in weeks, we worry. And we worry often.
Now we can worry a bit less as Northern Nevada Health System announced the development of a full-service hospital coming to Reno in 2022 — Sierra Medical Center. This top-rated health care facility will provide essential services such as Emergency Care, Labor & Delivery, Surgical Services, Neonatal Intensive Care, Oncology and more. In addition, a new Women’s Health Institute will focus on preventive services, health screening programs and more – designed exclusively for busy moms like us!
With the broad variety of services that the Health System offers, families can enjoy the convenience of care in our neighborhoods. While the hospital can respond to major, abrupt events related to emergency care and surgery, the Center will also house medical office buildings on its campus for outpatient care. The Health System currently operates family medicine clinics in Sparks and Reno and has a diverse provider network. This is exactly the support that our communities need!
In addition to offering family medicine, the Health System prior announced the opening of a Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) in northwest Reno. The ER at McCarran NW will serve individuals and families living in northwest Reno and is the first of its kind in the region. The FED care model is designed to produce shorter wait-times for patients who do not require robust services offered at a full-service hospital, and it’s expected to open in 2020 and will operate 24/7.
It is never good news when our kids, spouse, or other family member gets sick. No matter the severity of the situation, Northern Nevada Health System provides excellent patient care round-the-clock for you and your busy family.
Northern Nevada Health System is a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, is committed to maintaining and improving the well-being of the community while priding themselves on patient satisfaction, safety, and employee engagement. Sierra Medical Center will join the Health System’s growing operations, which include Northern Nevada Medical Center, Northern Nevada Medical Group, Quail Surgical and Pain Management and soon-to-open ER at McCarran NW.
