The Great Big List of Summer Camps in Reno 2018

Reno Moms Blog

Summer is (finally) just around the corner. Whether you’re a working parent needing camps for care through the summer, or a stay-at-home parent looking for something to keep the kids busy, this list is chock-full of camp experiences your child will love. From full days, to half days, and even some overnight camp options, there’s something for everyone and all ages on this list.

  1. Discovery Museum- The discovery always has amazing camps, with both half- and full-day options. Many of these camps are ALREADY full, so I suggest jumping over to their website ASAP if you have a kiddo who loves science or spending time at the museum.
  2. Young Explorers- This homeschool learning center hub is offering several summer camps this year with great prices (you don’t need to be a homeschooler!). With themes like “Into the Jungle,” “Under the Sea,” and “Inventor Camp,” your child’s brain will get a great workout while also getting to play and explore fun topics.
  3. Mesa Rim- This rock climbing camp will get your kids up and climbing! With lessons in knot tying, belaying, and footwork techniques, your child will fall in love with their newfound athletic skills. In the down times, your child will get to do arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, yoga, and more! If you have a monkey on your hands, this camp looks amazing.
  4. Kids University- If you are looking for a one-stop shop for amazing camp options all summer long, Kids University (put on by UNR) has a HUGE list of camp options for children of all ages/grades. From learning to code to swimming camps, your child will love the variety offered!
  5. Sierra School of Performing Arts- Have a theater-loving child on your hands? Then you’ll want to check out the Sierra School of Performing Arts! This theater camp will work on acting, stage movement, singing and dancing, with a show at the end of the week to top it all off!
  6. High Sierra Gymnastics- Have a little gymnast who can’t stop flipping through your living room? High Sierra has four weeks of camps this summer, offering your child a chance to learn or improve their tumbling skills!
  7. Deltchev Gymanstics- Again, tumblers, unite! Deltchev is offering seven weeks of camps this summer, with both half- and full-day options available for each week. Tumble away the summer!
  8. Urban Roots- Urban Roots has 10 weeks of summer camps this year.  Your child will learn about gardening, farming, animals, and more in these amazing farm camps.
  9. Great Basin Outdoor School- The Great Basin Outdoor School does offer overnight camps, but they do also offer two summer day camps this year. There are not a lot of summer-camp specific details on their site, but the photos and info for all their programs, in general, look absolutely amazing!
  10. KidScape Productions- Yet another incredible opportunity for the actors and theater kids in our community, KidScape Productions is offering two full-week camps this summer. Whether your child wants to explore acting or backstage in Alice in Wonderland, or wants to explore improv, these camps will be fun ones for all!
  11. Math Camp- If you have a child who loves all things math, or maybe a child needing some fun and playful inspiration to help them understand math a bit better, this camp, held at Coral Academy, is a great option. One week camp is available this summer.
  12. Nevada Museum of Art- If you only work part time, the Nevada Museum of Art offers a handful of half-day art programs. From various art techniques, to clay, to ceramics, there are camps for both young children and teens.
  13. Pinot’s Palette- The young artists will love these camps at Pinot’s Palette. With full- and half-day options (both morning and afternoons), these three full weeks of camps are sure to be a hit as your child explores clay, mosaics, melting, tie-dye, and more.
  14. Rock Sport- Rock Sport is offering six full-week summer rock-climbing camps. They have full- and half-day options (both morning and afternoon). The weeks will be full of learning how to safely climb, teamwork, games, and more.
  15. Andelin Farm- Ever been to the Andelin Farm for the pumpkin patch or baby animal days before? They offer summer camps for kids, too! Currently, there is no info on their website (other than the fact that they do offer summer camp), but it’s worth checking out/contacting them if your child is interested. I’ve heard great things about their camps in the past.
  16. Reno Little Theater- The Reno Little Theater is offering six weeks of camps (extended care is available). With themes like The Greatest Little Showman, Summer Nights, and Descending into Oz, your child will sing, dance, and act their way to a great summer experience. Each week ends with showcase to show family and friends their work.
  17. The Loft Dance Theater Arts- If your little dancer is interested in dance camps at The Loft, I suggest you run, not walk, to registration. Several of their camps are already totally full, though they are considering adding more. They have half-day camps for littles, and full-day options for the bigger kids.
  18. Gymnastics Nevada- We’ve got more gymnastics options for camps! At the time of this posting, there are no specific details on their website, but they do have a phone number to call for more info about the summer camps they are planning on offering.

  23. UNR Baseball Camps- These baseball camps put on by UNR look fun! With five weeks of camps, your baseball-loving children will have fun with their favorite sport.
  24. UNR Football Camps- While these football camps put on by UNR are not weeklong camps, they are a great option for parents looking for one-day options to keep their kids busy or prepare them for football season.
  25. UNR Volleyball Camp- Okay, so it would appear that UNR is doing a great job of offering a variety of sports camps to our local kids. This volleyball camp is a weeklong, half-day camp open to both boys and girls in 5th-8th grades.
  26. Great Basin Naturalists- These camps are held in Galena Creek. Outdoor-focused camps give children the chance to explore animals, wilderness, water, birds, plants, and more.
