I love to make checklists, visual reminders of the things I want to complete, and lately has seemed filled with busy-ness as our family adjusts to the rhythm of 2 working parents. A rhythm we certainly haven’t settled into yet (despite having 6 months already).
I don’t want summer to pass us by in a whirlwind of activity and insanity in which we forget the things we hoped for and miss out on stillness.
So, we spent a few minutes last rainy summer weekend to make a summer list. Of course, having 5 family members with input seemed to preclude the short and quick list, like this lovely summer list.
While making our list I consulted the Free and Frugal Summer Guide, considered the things we love every year, and the desires of my crazy little boys. We ended up with 25 things to check-off including making the most of our Wild Island passes, heading up to Lake Tahoe as much as humanly possible to enjoy the copious amounts of beautiful clear water, and my favorite, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival! It also includes 2 #3 movies my bigger boys can’t miss, and multiple forays into the great outdoors. My 7 year-old requested we go see a ‘desert’, so I’ll be planning a trip to check out Black Rock Desert (tips welcome!).
I’m hoping this list will serve us well on days where we have no direction, we can pick a box to check! I also hope it will pressure my husband and I to find ways to minimize errands and routine blah on our precious weekends.
How do you fit in/remember all your summer “must-dos”?
