World Breastfeeding Week was originally created by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) back in 1992. Each year it is celebrated from August 1 to August 7th in more than 120 countries. The goal of WABA is to promote a breastfeeding culture world wide and promote exclusive breastfeeding for up to six months of life and beyond due to its tremendous health benefits.
The Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition will be holding its race on the campus of UNR. They are very excited to bring to you not only the 5k but a Mommy Mile and a kids fun run. Something for everyone! You will also not want to miss out on the great list of vendors and raffle prizes that will be there. The event starts at 8am on August 6th with the Big Latch On following at 10am.
