My husband and I lived overseas for eight years. Over that time, I developed a slight addiction to online shopping, and became very familiar with the United States Postal Service. You know how Facebook has that “On This Day” feature? Well, recently one of mine popped up from a few years ago, and the post was me lamenting about how I was currently waiting for 13 packages from various stores in the States. I love to shop.
After moving back stateside a couple years ago, my online shopping addiction cooled (for which my husband is grateful!), and I joined the ranks of happy Americans looking for deals inside actual stores. Living in Spanish Springs, I’ve become very familiar with The Outlets at Sparks, and find myself detouring just to walk around and browse the stores. So when an opportunity to shop the Black Friday deals came up, I knew it would be just the right fit for a recovering shopaholic like myself.
I visited The Outlets at Sparks on Saturday before Thanksgiving, and most of the stores were also promoting their Black Friday specials. I had $100 to spend, and I was excited to see how far I could make it last; which, surprisingly, was a lot further than I had anticipated!
I popped into LOFT Outlet first, because the sign on the door promoting $6.99 jewelry was unavoidable. I ended up getting a beautiful pair of earrings for a friend, a gorgeous cranberry-colored sweater marked 75% off for my mom, and buy one, get two free camis for myself. Things were starting off really well!
From there, I went to Bath & Body Works to scope out some gifts for my kids’ teachers. They were having a Buy 3, Get 3 Free sale, and you better believe I took them up on the offer! Six lotions, sprays, and body washes later, I was set with gifts for daycare, and still had $50 left to spend.
I’m a big fan of The Old Farmer’s Almanac General Store, and make it a point to do a lap in the store every time I’m at The Outlets, and decided to stop in and see what kind of gifts I might find. Immediately upon entering the store, I saw a beautiful crystal ornament with a cardinal on top. I’m from Indiana, where the cardinal is the state bird, and my grandmother happens to collects cardinals, so this was a no brainer. Plus, the ornaments were 25% off, so I got a screamin’ deal. Another gift checked off my list!
My next stop was to Carter’s, where I found my “won’t-wear-pants-only-leggings-and-dresses” daughter a bright pink dress for a great deal. I also browsed in Osh Kosh, and they had some really great specials going on, too.
I still had about $28 left to burn, so I decided to walk through Off Broadway Shoes. Luck had it they were promoting a Buy One, Get 50% Off the Second deal. I found myself some new work shoes on clearance, and got my husband some really nice suede boots. I ended up coming out of my own pocket for this purchase, but $40 is such a good deal for a pair of Steve Madden boots!
I’m sure I’ll be back to The Outlets at Sparks before Christmas because as you can see, $100 goes very far!
Here’s me and all of my bags. Happy camper!!
