Treat the earth well: it was not given to you by your parents, it was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Children.
This week we observed Earth Day and the celebrations continue with several recycling and conservation events around town, but one of the largest is the annual Reno Earth Day party at Idlewild Park. Come outside and join the fun from 10 to 6 pm on Sunday, April 26.
This family-friendly event is a great way to teach kids, and adults, about all the different ways we can take care of the Earth and specifically our community here in Washoe Valley.
Have you checked out the event schedule for the day? There is a ton of stuff to do! You can learn about gardening, explore ways to be water wise, take a guided nature walk, do some yoga, check out solar options for house, listen to one of the bands and maybe even adopt a tortoise.
This year there are three stages , so bring a blanket, a hat, some sunscreen and get ready to dance. Plus there are several theme areas.
Animalia Kingdom – Besides the Adoption Showcase, check out the reptile Show and Pet Fashion Show
The Artists’ Grove – Exhibits by local artists, art activities, roaming art galleries throughout the park, new art installations and art contests.
