Getting Ready for the Just Between Friends Sale

just between friendsA few months ago, I wrote a blog about things I wish I would have done prior to the Just Between Friends fall/winter sale. Well, the spring/summer event is next month, and I’m bound and determined to get ahead of the game.

If you have never participated in a JBF sale before, I strongly encourage you to go through your stuff and get to tagging so you can make some money! Here are some helpful tips to get you started.

First things first: you have to sign up to participate. Visit www.jbfsale.com and find the Reno Spring event. Sign up to create a JBF Account and then sign up to participate in the event. You can also choose to volunteer to get an even greater discount during the show. I definitely recommend this!

Next, set aside 30 minutes to an hour each day going through your things and entering tags into the system. (Tip: line your items up orderly. This will save you tons of time when you are pinning later. I devote an entire closet to clothes, and go down the line pinning in the same order the item was input into the system.) The JBF volunteers who examine each piece do a thorough job to make sure the items donated are suitable for the JBF name. Because of this, it’s highly recommend you also do a thorough job inspecting on your end because there’s nothing worse than having a big pile of rejected items! If there are any stains whatsoever, holes, scuffs or marks, set the item aside for a garage sale or to be donated.

After you have a closet full of items, start creating tags. To create the tag, you choose a category, size, price, and gender. It’s up to you what you ask for any given item, but it’s always a good idea to check out the Reno Pricing Guide for a look at what the typical prices are at the show.

After you input your tags, it’s time to start pinning. For this you’ll need white card stock, large safety pins, Ziploc bags and zip ties.

Print all of your items on the heavy card stock. This is a requirement and if it’s not printed on card stock, the item will be rejected. The card stock needs to be pinned to each item on the upper right hand side. You’ll use the Ziploc bags for hats, socks, etc. and the zip ties to attach shoes together. After you’ve pinned everything onto your items, you’re good to go!

Before the sale, you will drop off your items at the Reno Events Center. Everything will be inspected, and then you’ll walk through the show floor and hang everything up in their appropriate locations. Pretty easy!

It may seem like a lot of work, but considering the average check last sale was above $500, I’d say it’s totally worth it!
