Dear Reno Moms,
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
A year ago we set off on this adventure of creating a collaborative blog featuring local moms. We didn’t know if it would work. We didn’t know if anyone would read this blog, but we knew that when it came to being a mom in the Biggest Little City something was missing. So we asked our friends and friends of friends and sometimes your friends if they would be interested in sharing parts of their lives on this site. 16 of them said yes!
I can’t tell you how thankful I am that such an amazing group of women have come together to share pieces of their lives and connect with other moms. Our contributors are so incredibly talented and I look forward to reading each new post every day.
These ladies have really put themselves out there over the last year. As we all know, opening up (especially to other moms) is not always easy. This group has shared happiness, sorrow, exhaustion and hundreds of other stories and tips. In turn, you have done the same. You have shared your life with us through the blog comments, through our Facebook community and even in person at our events.
You (yes, you!) have helped us build this community. Over the last year RenoMomsBlog.com has welcomed 40,000 unique visitors. We are simply blown away by that and we can’t wait to see what the next year has in store.
My hope for this community is that moms can come here and feel like they aren’t alone. Because, let’s face it, motherhood is amazing and it’s also pretty damn hard sometimes. It’s a complicated dance of joy, happiness, love and the hardest thing you’ve ever done. I want moms to be able to put their armor down here because, at Reno Moms Blog, we don’t believe in the Mommy Wars. We’re all too smart and too pretty for that.
As Reno Moms Blog moves into year two, you may notice that some things are changing. First, is our look – we were lucky enough to work with Design on the Edge on a new brand that better reflects who we are and pays tribute to Reno in a fun way. We love the work that husband/wife team Chris and Courtney did for us! Second, Lynnette Bellin will be transitioning from her role as regular contributor to partner on the site. Lynnette will replace co-founder Annie McFarland as Annie moves onto other projects and stays on as a regular blog contributor. This site never would have happened without Annie and the work she’s done over the last year – thank you Annie!
I also want to take a moment to thank the sponsors who have supported us over the last year – Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Lemaire Photography, Kaia Fit Sierra, Just Between Friends and a host of other local businesses who have helped with giveaways and our events! Thank you for “getting us” and what we’re all about!
Thank you Reno Moms! Here’s to another year of raising kids in the Biggest Little City!
