Moving….with three homeschool kids and a business!
We had plenty of time to prepare for this move – months, in fact – but it still seemed like it crept up on us all too fast (side note: we are moving to rent a new home, while getting ready to sell our current home)! It was all very organized and planned in my head. I looked on Pinterest and other helpful websites and blogs to get tips on the best ways to move and pack. I promised myself I would do this calmly and organized…but of course I was completely unrealistic with my thinking, which is how most of my ideas go.
Starting off with the non-necessities was the first on my list. I packed up picture frames, decor, knick-knacks, and got rid of many toys!
So, on top of packing, we are also trying to update the home to make it sale-ready. As we ripped out the kids’ carpet and packed another bedroom from floor to ceiling with all of the boxes and furniture, the kids became room-less, turning our living room into the party zone.
It was extremely cramped. Our 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1296-square-foot home was now reduced to a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, (whotheheckknows)-square-foot house. It was chaos! The kids’ mattresses were on the living room floor and Legos became a minefield every time you had to go to the bathroom or cook some food.
I think from that moment on we kind of gave up on an organized move, and just wanted to get the frack out of this alive! Sadly, we ate WAY TOO MUCH Taco Bell.
I couldn’t understand how so many things were covering our floor, piano, counters, couch, beds when I could have sworn I packed everything into those one million boxes in the front room!
Then the beautiful day we had been looking forward to came. MOVING DAY! I wrote out my lists of addresses to change, this and that, got the moving truck. Moved everything in two days with just the five of us.
Then, two days later, while discovering we were missing things, we realized we forgot our 10×10 storage unit.
Did I mention we made it out alive?!
